Youth Group

Our Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, has often stressed the role of today's youth as the future of the Church and the hope of the world. They are those who will carry on what they know and believe into the future. This being the case, it is extremely important that they know Jesus Christ and that they believe in Him as the Son of God and savior of the world. This is the heritage they must carry with them and pass on to the world.

Saint Mary's Youth Group is dedicated to nurturing this devotion to Christ and His church in our youth. Through group meetings, scripture readings, discussion and prayer, a close and personal relationship with God is available to all who search for it.

Also important is that they seek this relationship with the help of their fellow teens, for then a faith community develops, with people their own age that they can trust and depend on in times of need. These friendships are deep and enduring, for they are not founded solely on human affection, but on the Rock of Salvation, who is Christ Himself.

The Youth Group currently meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Hall, and would love to have you join them.

To join or for more information, contact Mr. and Mrs. Carl Csombok (305) 294-1018 or Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Searcy (305) 292-6347.

Catholic Daughters

From its inception in 1903, Catholic Daughters of the Americas has grown and developed into the largest organization of Catholic women in the Americas. Under the patronage of the Blessed Mother, its members are united by their faith in Jesus Christ, in their devotion to the church and the Holy See.

The Key West chapter, Saint Mary Star of the Sea Court 634, was established in 1921. New members are vital to keep alive the work of this dedicated group in promoting unity and charity in fulfillment of the faith.

Following the Mass at 9:00 AM on the first Sunday of the month, the court meets at the Renewal Center and afterwards enjoys breakfast at the school cafeteria.

Light of Christ

This Charismatic group, founded in 1973, meets Tuesdays at 8:00 PM at the Renewal Center. Please come and join in opening your heart and soul in the praises of the Lord’s glory and His work in our lives.

The last 30 years have been a period of change – years of moving out beyond Tuesday night – years in which we have heard the Lord ask, “Do you love me? Feed my lambs, tend to my sheep.” We responded by a weekly commitment to his flock – the elderly in the nursing home, visiting shut-ins at home and in the hospital, feeding the hungry, the homeless, and ministering to those searching for the truth, as well as deepening our faith by becoming involved in the RCIA and CCD programs.

“Yes, these years have truly been a growing in trust in God’s word as we have experienced His love.”

Lay Franciscan Order

The Stella Maris Secular Franciscan Fraternity, Key West, Florida [founded 1995].

The Third Order Secular was founded by St. Francis about 1221 and embraces devout persons of both sexes living in the world and following a rule of life approved by the Holy See.

Aside from being a practicing Catholic, the only other requirement to become a Secular Franciscan is the desire to be faithful to the way of life that Francis, who is called the mirror of Christ, and Clare, who is called the footprint of Mary, followed.

We gather twice a month in the Spiritual Renewal Center. The first meeting is on the second Sunday of the month at 10 AM. Here we discuss our business which includes communications from our regional, national and international fraternities, the status of our various ministries, current situations and future plans. At our second meeting on the last Sunday of each month, same time same place, we participate in our ongoing Formation.

The Secular Franciscan Fraternity of Stella Maris invites you to gather with us so that together we may help the world see and believe that the Kingdom of God is among us, as well as for Holy Mass and the Stations of the Cross devotion at 5:30 PM on the first Friday of the month at the Divine Mercy Chapel.

To learn more about the SFO, join us at a meeting or call Jim Maun,  Minister (305) 296-7395.
